PUBLIC NOTICE

The dumping of ROCKS and DEBRIS on ROADS and ROAD ALLOWANCES adjacent to private property is not permitted. All Cypress County highways, roads, streets, lanes and road allowances are required for public travel and access. The practice of depositing materials on rights of way causes increased maintenance and is a serious safety concern.

- IT IS AGAINST THE LAW -

Section 43 of the Public Highways Development Act provides that:

Any person who, without justification or excuse, obstructs or deposits any material on a highway, street, lane, road or road allowance is guilty of an offence.

Any person convicted of an offence may also be ordered to forthwith remove any obstruction or material deposited on the highway, street, lane, road or road allowance.

When any person contravenes the Act, Cypress County may remove the obstruction or material deposited and recover any expenses incurred in doing so, whether or not a conviction is made.
