Bursaries, Grants and Awards |
| The Agricultural Service Board is pleased to have programs that promote youth, assist with educational costs and recognize leaders in the community. This is done with two $1000 agricultural bursaries available to high school students continuing their education at a post secondary institution and with an annual $500 4-H grant to the Southeast Alberta Regional 4-H Council. Four grants covering registration and accommodation costs to attend FarmTech 2009 are available to interested farmers upon application. The annual Farm Family Award recognizes families in the County who are good farmers and are very active in their community. |

Two $1000 Agricultural Bursaries
are available
annually to students wishing to continue their
education at College or
University in
an agricultural or home economics program.
Applicants
must live in Cypress County,
the City of
Medicine Hat or the Town of Redcliff. Applicants must
complete an application form, plus provide
a list of Grade 12 marks, a letter of
acceptance from a College/University, and a
list of planned courses. Deadline for submitting applications
is September 1. In late September, the
Agricultural Service Board will award these two bursaries
upon
the recommendation of the
Cypress
County Agricultural
Fieldman, based on
scholastic
standing, social and community activities. For further information, contact

Farm Family Award The focus of this award is to recognize outstanding southern Alberta farm families who typify the value of the family farmer to rural communities and society in general. The local ASB nominates a FARM FAMILY that must be active in primary agriculture, have agriculture as a main source of income and live on the farm. Criteria for consideration include use of modern farming/ranching practices, involvement in upgrading courses AND involvement in the community. This award helps to promote a relationship between urban and rural people. It is sponsored by the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede with presentations made at the stampede in Calgary. Another presentation is made at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede.
