FIRE RESTRICTION – FROM TOWNSHIP 8 NORTH
INCLUDES ALL THE LANDS IN TOWNSHIPS 8 TO 20
Effective: 1100hrs, August 14, 2026
Pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Government Act, the Forests and Prairie Protection Act, and Cypress County Bylaw 2025/07, Cypress County hereby orders, effective as of the above stated time, the following:
1. A Fire Restriction is being implemented regarding fires (including fireworks) within the boundaries of Cypress County. Due to warm, dry, and windy conditions along with cured vegetation, fire behaviour can be extreme. All fire permits have been cancelled.
2. In accordance with Cypress County Fire Services Bylaw 2025/07 Section 10, Fire Restriction and Fire Ban:
10.1 From time to time, as conditions dictate, the County may impose a full Fire Ban or a Fire Restriction upon open fires within Cypress County.
3. A person who wilfully sets an open fire, or any fire not allowed under this order, may be charged under the Forest and Prairie Protection Act and Cypress County Bylaw 2025/07. If the person is the owner or occupant of the land on which the fire is set, those costs may be recovered by placing the costs on the tax roll and recovering them in the same manner as taxes.
FIRE BAN – FROM TOWNSHIP 7 SOUTH
INCLUDES ALL THE LANDS IN TOWNSHIPS 1 TO 7
Effective: 1100hrs August 14, 2026
Pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Government Act, the Forests and Prairie Protection Act, and Cypress County Bylaw 2025/07, Cypress County hereby orders, effective as of the above stated time, the following:
1. A Fire Ban is being implemented (including fireworks) within the boundaries of Cypress County. All fire permits have been cancelled.
2. Recreational Fire Pits are exempt during fire bans when the bylaw conditions are met within the defined hamlets of Cypress County.
3. A person who wilfully sets an open fire, or any fire not allowed under this order, may be charged under the Forest and Prairie Protection Act and Cypress County Bylaw 2025/07. If the person is the owner or occupant of the land on which the fire is set, those costs may be recovered by placing the costs on the tax roll and recovering them in the same manner as taxes.
This order amends any previous fire control orders.
Cypress County is in Fire Ban with extreme fire hazard due to lack of precipitation, hot and dry conditions, and resource management.
